Miesville Grinder - all done!

Miesville Grinder

This event is in the (distant) past.  Keeping the page for historical reference only.

Well folks, the Miesville Grinder is moving to a new name, new 'owners' and a new home!  The long and short of it is that the Miesville Grinder is being rebranded the "Miesville 56" and has a new home.  I'll leave this page up for a while, but going forward, please reference the FB page above.
Looks like they have some exciting changes to the event, and will only make it better!

26 March - Update!  Maps, e-files and turn lists are attached at the bottom.  There's still a little room to register, but that will close soon!
One note - like our friends at the Mammoth Gravel Ride found last year, Mother Nature can be a fickle person.  The course is set, but if the B road (right) isn't rideable, we'll do a little detour. I'd rather not, but we'll do it.

8 March - The course is pretty much set.  The distance will be roughly 56 miles, with several options for shortcuts.
I've added a short section to Welch Village, so there may possibly be a convenience store and cafe at around 45 miles, but I wouldn't count on it.
This is an extension of an old Minneapolis Bike Club route, and takes advantage of nearly every gravel road within the area between Hastings, Cannon Falls and Welch Village.  There are no water stops, potty stops, feed zones, convenience stores or any other signs of civilization out on the course, but it's early enough in the year that 3 bottles ought to get you done.  For the most part, the roads are good-very good, but there is a section of "B" road that is tricky on the descent, and likely muddy on the 'flats'.
Rough breakdown:
Gravel - 48 miles
B-road - 1-2 miles
Pavement - 1-2 miles.
Hills - yep, a few

Level of difficulty - pretty low.  You can do this on a regular road bike if you are careful, although you might walk part of the B road.  Any cyclocross, gravel or randoneur style bike should do just fine.
The plan is to start at 9:00 from the baseball field in Miesville, ride at your own pace, and then hopefully gather at King's afterward for burgers and beverages.
There won't be a clock, no times will be kept this year, and results will be strictly based on reported times.  I'll do a wrap page here listing all the lies, prevarications and boasts after we're done.

The pictures are from the course, including the B road section.  This will be a very low key event, and a great chance for new faces to get out and try a gravel ride with other people. There are also several 'cutoffs' that can drop the distance down to around 25, 35 and 47 miles, while still maintaining the character of the journey.

Final GPX files and turn lists will be online about a week before the event.
